One common theme in our lives is that Liz and I like to tackle things together. From joining the same sorority in college, both moving to AZ, working at the same restaurant for a few years, starting a business together, and co-directing a local Miss America pageant, its clear life is better when your best friend is your co-pilot. We both share a passion for enriching the lives of others and empowering young women. As the directors of the Miss Scottsdale, Miss Phoenix, Miss Maricopa County Pageant ( SPMC as we like to call it ) we get to do just that. Our program helps shape young women and gives them tools to realize and reach their full potential while earning college scholarships…. All the while the young women we call “our girls” are blessing us exponentially.
In November we crowned our 6 titleholders and over the past 8 months these women have been volunteering their time for their personal platforms, the Children’s Miracle Network, and their communities while training for Miss Arizona and Miss AZ’s Outstanding Teen, working, going to school, and the list goes on! To say they are incredible humans would be a huge understatement.
In honor of them competing this week for the state titles we are showing off the photos from their send off party! We had an absolute blast crafting the décor and gifts for them and were so thrilled to work along side such generous vendors and sponsors, all of which went above and beyond to throw one heck of a party and make our girls feel so loved!!
The SPMC Miss Arizona Send Off Party was hosted at Shop Olive You Boutique, a darling setting for the celebration where the titleholders put on a fashion show in summery attire sponsored by the boutique! Guests enjoyed cupcakes, Mustache Pretzels, and gourmet tea from Teaspressa! Balloons from Northstar Balloons framed the photo booth and made for a big hit along with giant head shots of each girl for props! Michelle from Jamberry nails hosted a raffle and passed out samples! Parents and friends purchased cards, buttons, and build-a-heads for the state pageant!
The evening wrapped up with a sparking cider toast, and passing out of gift baskets made by the SPMC committee, filled with items for the titleholders to use while competing! {Stay tuned for photos of them getting ready for the Miss Arizona Pageant in their custom Shiki Moo Moos }
Décor Recap:
The pageant’s branded colors are a mix of Peach, Mint, Lavender, Coral, and Gold, the perfect pallet for a feminine summer party! Each table was adorned with bunting signs representing the 4 points of the Miss America Crown { Style, Success, Scholarship, and Service } Photos of the titleholders were strung with twine and pins to add a personal touch! Along side the gift baskets custom banners were strung on behalf of each titleholder { Each year they hang these on their mirrors as the theatre for good luck!}
Pops of peach, coral, and mint were found in the whimsical pom-pom flowers along the wood backdrop and rosettes framing the dessert table. Washi tape flag cupcake toppers and tissue tassel garland were hand-made touches that tied in the theme beautifully. The hashtag and items for sale were promoted through eye catching signage { a party must-have}
Liz and I both incorporated items from our weddings including her stunning ribbon and fabric ceremony backdrop used as a photo booth, sequin gold runners for a pop of sparkle, and hand made paper flowers from my wedding centerpieces.
